A small, privately owned hotel in the centre of London (Bloomsbury), the Garth has a friendly atmosphere and clean, comfortable rooms. The building in a Grade II Listed, 18th century Georgian town house of historical and architectural interest. It was the birthplace, in 1839, of William de Morgan, the famous potter and novelist. The hotel is owned by Simon Hoare and run by Joey Cruz, the manager, who has been at the Garth for over 10 years. Simon was previously in the antique business and this is shown by the furnishings and decor of his hotel. Numerous paintings, photographs and prints are used to create an 'art gallery' effect. A Mediterranean garden is being created for the use of guests, containing many unusual semi-tropical plants and palms. The warm and friendly atmosphere has helped to establish the hotel's reputation for hospitality, bringing back the same guests every year. Accommodation The bedrooms, recently refurbished, each have central heating, direct dial telephone, colour television and tea and coffee making facilities. Accommodation provided includes single, double, twin and family rooms. Some bedrooms have private en-suite facilities with shower and toilet, some have shower only. Standard rooms are also available. Food and Drink The Garth Hotel provides a full English breakfast, a Continental style breakfast, or a traditional Japanese breakfast every morning. For other meals, there are numerous restaurants and pubs nearby - the staff and management of the hotel will be happy to make some suggestions for dining out.
